Co-exist Projects is pleased to support TurtleWatch Egypt, the Red Sea sea turtle conservation project co-founded by Dr. Agnese Mancini and led by Micol Montagna. Coexist will help to strengthen TurtleWatch Egypt’s communications, expand its digital presence, and help develop new fundraising opportunities for the organisation.
This partnership presents an opportunity for both organisations, as TurtleWatch Egypt seeks to grow its funding base and continue its core operations.
By combining TurtleWatch Egypt’s conservation expertise with improved storytelling and outreach, the partnership aims to raise awareness of the organisation’s work while creating new opportunities for public engagement and financial sustainability. The collaboration reflects Co-exist Projects’ wider commitment to supporting outstanding conservation organisations and helping them achieve even greater impact.
“Every turtle we identify is not just a record in a database, it represents a story, a place, and a connection between people and the sea,” Micol said.
“Over the years, TurtleWatch Egypt 2.0 has grown thanks to the passion of volunteers, local communities, divers, and conservation partners who believe that everyone can play a role in protecting marine life. This partnership with Co-exist Projects will help us strengthen the project’s visibility, share our impact more widely, and continue building a sustainable future for sea turtle conservation in the Red Sea.”
TurtleWatch Egypt has operated since 2011 and is supported by two non-profit associations: Marine Life Watch ETS in Italy (registered in 2022) and Marine Life Conservation and Preservation Foundation in Egypt (registered in 2023).
The project runs a network of more than 90 dive centers and maintains active partnerships with WWF Travel, HEPCA, and academic institutions across the UK, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Poland, Tunisia, Germany, Jordan and Egypt. To date, it has logged over 12,500 turtle sightings and catalogued over 1000 individual turtles. In the past three years has engaged more than 1,200 children and more than 1750 adults directly in its conservation work.
