Connecting People with the Ocean

Our oceans are among the most extraordinary and important ecosystems on Earth. Yet for most people, the underwater world remains out of sight and out of reach.

At Co-Exist Projects, we believe meaningful marine conservation begins by helping people build a connection with the ocean.

Through science, education, storytelling and collaboration, we inspire people to discover the beauty of marine ecosystems while supporting the organisations and individuals working every day to protect them.

Registered charity

Co-Exist Projects is the public-facing brand of Coexist Projects Corp, a Florida not-for-profit corporation recognised as a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Read more about how we are governed on our governance page.

Our Mission

To connect people, science, storytelling and conservation organisations to inspire action and strengthen marine conservation worldwide. We work alongside outstanding conservation organisations, helping amplify their stories, grow their audiences and strengthen their impact.

Our Vision

A world where every person has the opportunity to connect with the ocean, every outstanding conservation organisation has the support it deserves, and powerful storytelling inspires people everywhere to protect our blue planet.

Our Philosophy

  • People protect what they care about.
  • People care about what they understand.
  • Science creates understanding.
  • Storytelling creates emotional connection.
  • Partnerships multiply impact.

Everything Co-Exist Projects does is built on these beliefs.

How We Create Impact

Inspiring Ocean Advocates

Education, outreach and experiences that help people discover the beauty and importance of our oceans.

Advancing Marine Science

Working alongside researchers and scientific organisations to communicate evidence-based marine conservation.

Strengthening Conservation Organisations

Helping high-impact marine conservation organisations amplify their work, build partnerships, attract supporters and increase long-term impact.

Empowering Ocean Storytellers

Through the WhyCoexist? Competition and the Coexist Creators Programme we discover and support emerging filmmakers, photographers, educators and conservation communicators.

Building a Global Conservation Community

Connecting scientists, educators, creators, volunteers and conservation organisations into one collaborative international network.

Connecting Funding to Conservation

Bringing together donors, businesses and conservation organisations to fund credible marine conservation and environmental projects that deliver measurable, long-term impact.

Creator Spotlight

One of the first creators to join the Coexist Creators Programme is Marta Belmar da Costa.

Following recognition across both the 2025 and 2026 WhyCoexist? Competitions, Co-Exist Projects is now working alongside Marta to help amplify her independent conservation storytelling, develop a long-term content strategy and introduce her work to wider audiences.

Marta represents exactly what the Coexist Creators Programme exists to achieve: discovering talented storytellers, supporting their growth and inspiring more people to connect with the ocean.

Co-Exist in the Field

Real conservation happens in the field through dedicated scientists, conservationists, educators, volunteers and local communities. Our role is to work alongside these organisations, helping them reach wider audiences, strengthen their impact and build the support they need to achieve even more.
